We Sell Japanese Maples – both Palmatum and dissectum varieties We stock as many as  11 Japanese Maple varieties during the year. Japanese Maples are broken down into upright small trees (palmatum) or smaller weeping trees (palmatum dissectum). We carry both types in quantity. Japanese Maples remain one of the most popular trees that we carry – especially the red leaf varieties.

Crimson Queen Japanese Maple – A weeping, dwarf tree with beautiful lace-like leaves. The leaves hold their color throughout the summer, and turn a bright scarlet in fall. Can tolerate full sun in our area, and can thrive in a half day of sun as well.

Matures at 8 – 10 feet tall and 10 – 12 feet wide.

Medium width relative to height – this variety grows nearly as tall as it does wide so the beautiful dome shape of the canopy is more pronounced.

Prefers slightly moist soil, but does not like to be wet. It doesn’t tolerate drought. Avoid areas with strong winds – particularly winter winds coming from the north west.

Tamukeyma Japanese Maple – A weeping, dwarf tree with beautiful lace-like leaves. foliage is purple-red throughout the summer and changes to bright red in the fall.. Can tolerate full sun in our area, and can thrive in a half day of sun as well.

Matures at 6 – 8 feet tall and 10 – 12 feet wide.

Red Dragon Japanese Maple – A weeping, dwarf tree with beautiful lace-like leaves. The leaves hold their purple color throughout the summer, and turn red in fall. Can tolerate full sun in our area, and can thrive in a half day of sun as well.

Matures at 7 – 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide.

This variety grows taller than it does wide ultimately reaching only 5 feet wide – creating a beautiful dome shape – great for tight spaces

Orangeola Japanese Maple – A weeping, dwarf tree with beautiful lace-like leaves. New growth emerges bright red, and eventually fades to green, and then bright ornage in the fall. The plant continuers to send out new growth so it is possible to have green, red and orange leaves at one time

Viridis Japanese Maple – A weeping, dwarf tree with beautiful lace-like leaves. The leaves are medium green through summer. Fall color is excellent – a mix of red, orange and gold. Can tolerate full sun in our area, and can thrive in a half day of sun as well.

Matures at 8 – 10 feet tall and 8 feet wide.

This variety grows slightly taller than it does wide ultimately reaching 8 feet wide – creating a beautiful dome shape – great for tight spaces

A wonderful small tree – often overshadow by it’s red leaved relative – Viridis can have just as stunning an impact in the landscape.

Bloodgood Japanese Maple Bloodgood is our most popular upright Japanese Maple. Known to carry it burgundy color right through the summer, before turning a brilliant red in fall. A great way to bring red into the landscape and an excellent medium size tree.

Grows 15 – 20 feet tall and 15 feet wide. Modest width given the eventual height allows this tree to be planted closer to patios and decks. 

Prefers to stay moist but not wet.
