Japanese Maples are broken down into upright small trees (palmatum) or smaller weeping trees (palmatum dissectum). We carry both types in quantity. Crimson Queen Japanese Maple – A weeping, dwarf tree with beautiful lace-like leaves. The leaves hold their color throughout the summer, and turn a bright scarlet in fall. Can tolerate full sun in our area, and can thrive in a half day of sun as well.
Matures at 8 – 10 feet tall and 10 – 12 feet wide.
Medium width relative to height – this variety grows nearly as tall as it does wide so the beautiful dome shape of the canopy is more pronounced.
Prefers slightly moist soil, but does not like to be wet. It doesn’t tolerate drought. Avoid areas with strong winds – particularly winter winds coming from the north west.
